MISS Research Summit 2026

Colombo, Sri Lanka
May 2-3, 2026
In conjunction with Sharks International
Picture
MISS is very excited to host our third Research Summit in May 2026! Thanks to funding from The Campbell Foundation and The Schmidt Ocean Coalition, MISS will be funding travel and housing for MISS members to attend the Sharks International conference and MISS's research summit.

The Summit

Attendees will have the opportunity to attend Sharks International talks and events as well as attend the MISS research summit. During this summit, MISS members and Friends of MISS will have the opportunity to present their own research, network with scientists from many different disciplines, and attend professional development workshops.

Save the date: We will host the 2027 MISS Summit January 2-7 in Pittsburgh, PA in partnership with the Society of Integrative and Comparative Biology. Ja

About miss

MISS provides a community and funded opportunities for gender minorities of color who wish to enter the field of shark sciences. We aim to show that there are many gender minorities of color succeeding in and interested in this field.

We fundraise and apply for grants to create paid opportunities to attempt to knock down the financial barrier into shark sciences. We encourage other organizations in our field to do the same.
