Woods Hole Oceanographic InstituteMISS has partnered with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (WHOI) to participate in our DiverSEAfying Ocean Sciences program. Dr. Camrin Braun, an assistant professor at WHOI, will be leading the marine technologies concentration with the year long mentorship ending in a week long field trip at WHOI.

Save Our Seas Foundation
MISS is partnering with SOSF to create content to educate the general public about sharks, skates and rays, the threats they face and conservation efforts to protect them through our Gill Guardians program. Courses include video lessons, activities, quizzes and action items. Our K-12 program will give students a chance to learn about shark biology and conservation while engaging with women of color working in the field of shark science. We also provide lessons and activities for adults to learn more about elasmobranch research and conservation as well as monthly blog posts that break down recent scientific papers into easy to understand summaries.

New College of Florida located in Sarasota, FLMISS is partnering with New College of Florida to provide housing, travel and supplementary stipends to complement its paid training experience in shark research. Interns will receive mentorship from Dr. Jayne Gardiner of New College and Tonya Wiley of Havenworth Coastal Conservation scientists and participate in on-vessel field-based research, receiving hands-on experience in deploying gear, handling, identifying, tagging and releasing sharks, rays, teleosts, and invertebrates, as well as collecting biological and environmental data.
